Tsunami child
Found objects / 22X42″ / $400
The large, round paint-drum lid is pretty much as it was when I found it. I did hammer a slit for a mouth with a hatchet and sledge.
It’s the face of a very sad child, scarred and scared, wary but inquisitive.
Rust has turned it reddish, like a damaged Rising Sun, and although the peeled-out flaps under the eyes and nose suggest tears, I also see proof of vitality and strength within.
The green torso reminded me immediately of the folded-back arms of a bashful child.
The four pieces are wired together and hang from a hole in the top.
