A Chance in Hell
The Virginian-Pilot sent reporter Corinne Reilly and photographer Ross Taylor to Kandahar, Afghanistan, this spring (2011) to cover the NATO hospital there and they came back with this powerful report which the paper published over five days. I was the designer on the project. A 16-page, color reprint, going to press soon, is shown here at a size large enough to read.
This project is a phenomenal achievement – great writing, photography and editing – and an eye-popping look into the “never say die” efforts of our amazing medical teams who beat staggering odds every day. I’m so proud of the Americans battling over there, but I’m also outraged and heartbroken at the senseless toll of this crazy war.
