Each Halloween season, my editors at the paper indulge me with some space in the features section…
This year, I wrote a fantasy piece from the viewpoint of a scary doll.
One Saturday about 5 years ago, a friend rang my doorbell and asked if I’d been to the garage sale down the street.
“There’s a doll for sale that I know you’re gonna want,” she said.
I raced over and paid $5 for the doll shown on the page – and would’ve paid much more.
The story is inspired by something that happened to me when I was about 8 years old, and I happened to wake up in the middle of the night and glanced across my moonlit room at my ventriloquist dummy…
