Lap Dog, 12.14.11
Found object assemblage | 14X19X17″ | $250
I had the old 3-legged fireplace andiron from a while back and intended to make an animal from it, so one day last week, I took another look at the Underwood No. 5 typewriter that was rusting beautifully on the back deck, and started working with it. I soon discovered that a lot of metal had to be removed from the front of the typewriter because it kept falling on its face! Eventually, the little dog was sturdy – I added a piece of copper donated by Roy, my relic hunter friend, for the tongue. And a cool 1923 dog tag Roy also donated. Everything is wired together tightly.
