Birds Rule, 5.5.12
Found object assemblage, 32X12″ | $500
This piece was in the works during our little dog’s decline and subsequent death. She was always friendly toward the birds and I felt like they knew they were safe in the backyard when Millie was there.
The wonderful cat-head shaped metal thing was a donation from a friend, the dog head piece was a scrap yard find. His body is made of dogwood and crepe myrtle branches. The little bird bits are dug relics donated by my friend, Roy.
The old wooden window frame is from Country Boy antiques on Granby and luckily, I had the piece of flooring, found in the street, that fit perfectly.
I painted the words being spoken by the insolent bird (last act of defiance?) in acrylic.
