The Lion’s Paw, 6.19.12

Scrap art | 18X27″ | $300

This is based on the African folktale about the brave, little mouse who approached the scary lion and pulled the thorn from his paw and made a very powerful friend. The propeller fan is virtually as found. I added the nose, tail and arm – the hand holds an actual rose thorn. The lion’s mane is a street sweeper bristle I found at the scrap yard. The other pieces are: ceiling tins, button, Prince Albert tobacco tin lid, permit tag and an old pottery shard. The oven tray was found at the scrap yard under a huge pile of aluminum.

Wired and ready to hang.
