Stubborn Scotty 12.07.17

“Stubborn Scotty,” 11×14″

This simple assemblage came about while I was at work at the newspaper, waiting for my assignment to come in, bored . . .

I had a big box of pottery shards that were donated to me by my friends, Roy Bahls and Vickie Friedrichs, devoted searchers of valuable relics of history.

I just dumped everything on the floor of this little room we used called the “Think tank.”

Immediately, I saw the shard with the face… and perhaps 15 minutes later, I’d created this simple image, using 12 shards and 2 pieces of found metal.

I later donated it to the annual art auction fundraiser at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center.
