E Pluribus Unum exhibit

poster.dragonfly.small300My first exhibit in two years opened Friday (March 9) at The Dragonfly Art Studio in Ghent. I’m so grateful to Maggie O’Hara Hudson and Jody Cowdrey for inviting me to exhibit at their beautiful venue – my art has never looked better – and for being such passionate supporters of all local artists here in Norfolk. Please support this beautiful gallery and active workshop studio.

It was also a nice coincidence that The Greening of Ghent, an annual festival, was happening at the same time, and we had a ton of foot traffic through the studio — hundreds of people of all stripes came in and enjoyed the show. Below is a video of the show being set up.

The following day, it was a pleasure to host a fun workshop with four amazing free spirits — we had a lot of fun creating our own scrap art assemblages that expressed our individual interests and personality.

Here are some photos from the workshop:

Here we are: Vickie Jones, Lesley Hildreth, MacKenzie and George Arbogust and Moi.

Vickie lovingly recreated a photo of her grandparents using ornate trays she’d found at thrift stores

Lesley, an accomplished sculptor and potter, made a beautiful running figure

MacKenzie, who worried that she was too formal and symmetric-centric, created a whimsical scene of undersea life

And George, who loves to write about music, conjured a stage full of quirky musicians ( Love the bass player!)

And I made my usual weird remembrance of a hunting outing gone very, very bad. Thank you, all, for coming and exploring the potential of this wonderful medium!
